Five team members honored with $2,500 award at Saratoga Casino and Raceway

SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York (March 13, 2013) – Saratoga Casino and Raceway honored their top five team members with $2,500 at the ninth annual awards banquet, held February 26 in Vapor Night Club.
Over 120 were in attendance at the event, which also featured a salute to thirteen team members that have worked for Saratoga Casino and Raceway for over 20 years. Senior Vice President of Racing, Don Braim, made a special presentation to these members for their years of service. Awards were presented to Christine Barger, Gary Connors, Mary Ellen Decker, Joan Devaney, Chuck Deveno, Glenn Hastings, Rich Healy, John Kondenar, Vicki May, Bert Muller, Mary Reigert, Ray Topjian and Bill Brackett.

Each year, there is a winner for Team Member of the Year for both the front and back of house, as well as two Supervisors of the Year. The winners for this year included:

Supervisors of the Year:
Helen Hayes, Accounts Payable Supervisor

Karon Chapman, VGM Supervisor

Team Member of the Year
(Back of House): Larry Baldwin, Jr., Porter

(Front of House): Mike Taber, Buffet Server

New for 2013, the casino awarded a Leader of Distinction. Jim Steele, Accounting Manager, took this title.

Saratoga Casino and Raceway selects two team members monthly for the Team Member of the Month award, one for the front of house and one for the back. Two supervisors and one "leader of distinction" are also selected quarterly to create a pool of 36 candidates for the final honor. The yearly awards winners are then selected by the executive team of the Casino and the Team Member of the Month committee.

Each winner received a $2,500 check along with a spectacular crystal trophy, presented by Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Jamie Hartman, and owner, Dan Gerrity.
