Don't Blame Her & Joe Bongiorno
Don’t Blame Her (Village Connection) matched the fastest win time of the year for a pacing mare at Saratoga Casino and Raceway on Sunday in the afternoon’s feature. Driver Joe Bongiorno moved the veteran distaffer to the lead after a quick quarter of :27.2. Bet down to odds of 2-5, Don’t Blame Her showed the form that resulted in her being named the track’s Pacer of the Year last season as she opened up a big lead in the stretch before stopping the timer in 1:52.4 in the $20,000 Open, tying the mark set by Cocoa Beach as the fastest for a lady pacer this year. The win time also set a track record for a ten year old pacing mare. Momma Rock (Billy Dobson) and Memumsnotnice (Mark Beckwith) hit the board underneath Don’t Blame Her in the Father’s Day matinee feature at the Spa. Don’t Blame Her is owned by Bob and Barbara Bongiorno and trained by Brad Irvine.
Live racing resumes on Wednesday night at Saratoga with a 6:45pm first post.
